The Eternal King of the universe planned for all eternity, even before He breathed life into Adam, to sit down one day, braid a whip, and beat the money changers out of His Father’s house.
He did not “lose His temper.”
He is God. Every single thing He did while walking this earth was intentional – to show us how to “work out our salvation with fear and trembling.”
One very striking example He gave us (pun intended), is the proper response to blasphemers who would defile His Father’s house.
He didn’t try to reason with them. He could have, but He didn’t. He whipped them, He threw them, He overturned their tables, and He kicked them out.
The Lord Our God, the Spotless Lamb, the final sacrifice – demands violence, in certain circumstances, depending on one’s station and vocation. That’s a fact.
According to His example, violence is required to protect the sanctity and dignity of His Father’s house.
